Rodrigo Gabizo

Rodrigo Gabizo’s career is built on one consistent thread: turning technological complexity into commercial momentum — across industries, borders, and market cycles that few executives have navigated from the inside.

With over 25 years spanning mining, transportation, digital infrastructure, and industrial technology, Rodrigo brings to KOMPASSIUM a rare combination of strategic depth and operational credibility. He has worked in Brazil, Belgium, China, South Africa, and Australia — not as a visitor, but as a builder of businesses, teams, and market positions in each.

His career began at Vale, one of the world’s largest mining and metals companies, where he spent nearly a decade in progressively senior commercial roles — managing iron ore and coal contracts across Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, and later leading early-stage evaluation of joint ventures and M&A opportunities across four continents. That foundation — understanding how global commodity markets actually work at the commercial and contractual level — has informed every strategic decision since.

At GE, across multiple divisions and over a decade, Rodrigo led the digital transformation agenda for Latin America. As Digital Solutions Director for GE Transportation and subsequently Wabtec, he built technology roadmaps across Digital, IoT, and Industry 4.0, opening commercial pathways in energy efficiency, train automation, asset monitoring, and advanced analytics. At GE Global Research, he worked directly with the regional CTO to develop a project portfolio spanning aviation, healthcare, mining, and transportation — building strategic relationships with customers, government agencies, universities, and research institutions simultaneously. He holds Lean Six Sigma and Black Belt certifications, reflecting a discipline for operational rigor that sits alongside his commercial instincts.

He currently serves as VP of Business Development at Optym, a technology company focused on optimization solutions for complex logistics and infrastructure operations.

His academic background includes an MBA from Fundação Dom Cabral — one of Latin America’s most respected business schools — a Business and Marketing degree from Universidade Estácio de Sá, and a Hotel Management degree from Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland. He is fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French, with working knowledge of German and introductory Mandarin and Japanese — a linguistic range that mirrors the geographic breadth of his career.

At KOMPASSIUM, Rodrigo strengthens our capabilities in industrial technology, digital transformation, and infrastructure markets, with particular depth in Latin America and cross-border commercial strategy. His ability to bridge complex technology ecosystems with real-world commercial execution makes him a distinctive partner for organizations navigating growth in demanding, capital-intensive sectors.

Rodrigo, glad to have you with us. Your track record across markets, industries, and cultures is exactly what “doers, not sayers” looks like in practice.
